A Sri Lankan Cabinet minister says a Muslim man was killed and dozens of outlets and mosques have been destroyed in communal violence in apparent retaliation to the Easter Sunday bombings that killed more than 250 individuals.
Rauff Hakeem, a Cupboard minister and leader of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress, stated Tuesday that the man was hacked to dying Monday in northwestern Sri Lanka when majority ethnic Sinhalese mobs attacked Muslim-owned outlets and houses. A police curfew was imposed in the area.
Communal violence has also been reported in western Sri Lanka.
Muslims have been subjected to hate feedback in social media because the April 21 suicide attacks on three church buildings and three resorts.
The Islamic State group claimed duty for the assaults, which have been carried out by radicalized native Muslims.
