The majority leader of the state Senate says a Democratic state senator who was underneath investigation following allegations of improper conduct — the first check of the chamber’s new office insurance policies adopted in the wake of the #MeToo motion — has resigned.
Majority Leader Andy Billig stated in a press release Saturday that Sen. Kevin Ranker has stepped down effective instantly.
The Senate has been conducting an outdoor investigation into Ranker following allegations of improper conduct. Via a public data request, The Associated Press obtained a contract between the Senate and Tara Parker, an investigator with Ogden Murphy Wallace regulation agency in Seattle, who was hired by the chamber in October.
Ranker has stated he informed the secretary of the Senate he would cooperate with the investigation. He informed the AP he wouldn’t comment additional whereas the investigation was underway, but believes he shall be exonerated.
