Max power: Verstappen gets podium for Red Bull and Honda

With one overtaking maneuver and constant velocity, Purple Bull driver Max Verstappen showed that the 2019 Method One season is unlikely to descend into another two-workforce race.

Verstappen overtook two-time defending Australian Grand Prix champion Sebastian Vettel on the surface just after halfway by means of the season-opening race on Sunday and stored powering away from the Ferrari ace to complete third. It was his sixth consecutive F1 podium end, and delivered automaker Honda its first since 2008.

A lot of the speak after winter testing was concerning the tempo of the Ferrari automobiles, and if that may be sufficient to end the domination Mercedes has had on the F1 championships in recent times.

Valtteri Bottas led 5-time world champion Lewis Hamilton in a 1-2 end but then Verstappen cut up the two teams most expected to compete for the title, ending behind each Mercedes and in entrance of each Ferraris.

“To have the ability to challenge Lewis at the finish of the race and overtake Seb on-monitor, which around here could be very troublesome, could be very constructive,” Verstappen stated. “Since we began working together (with Honda) it has been superb and I am really enjoying the partnership, so this can be a properly-deserved third place for all of us.

“The automotive was working rather well and we also look robust on the straights, which is hopefully an excellent signal for the rest of the season.”
