HOUSTON WEATHER: Air quality alert for Thursday

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Ozone levels might again attain unhealthy levels on Thursday. Chief Meteorologist Travis Herzog says the mixture of sunshine, scorching temps, and lightweight winds will permit excessive ranges of ozone to gather in the afternoon. Ozone is a lung irritant and may trigger asthma assaults in sensitive people.

High temps can be again into the 90s, but the humidity will remain low.

Robust southerly winds return for Father’s Day Weekend, bringing again the steam warmth and a small probability for afternoon downpours. Travis says a dust cloud from Africa’s Sahara Desert may also blow in on the south breeze, turning the sky a hazy grey.

Most of next week appears scorching and steamy with a chance for every day afternoon downpours.
