Dwyane Wade speaks about jersey exchange with Terry Rozier

Dwyane Wade’s jersey change with Celtics guard Terry Rozier following Thursday’s recreation was pre-deliberate … in November.

“Let’s [go back to] late November,” Wade stated with a smile earlier than the Heat hosted the Grizzlies on Saturday. “I get up the subsequent day, and I received a text at 4 within the morning from Terry Rozier. He’s like, ‘Yo, I’m going to wish that jersey.’ So I’m going and I take a look at once we’re enjoying them, considering we’re about to play Boston. I’m like, ‘We don’t play y’all until January.’ So he put his request in early and let me know at four within the morning to be sure that once we play them he wanted that jersey. We’ve that sort of relationship.”

Rozier, a 24-yr-previous bench participant who grew up in Ohio, obtained what he requested for as Wade handed him his black Warmth “Vice Nights” uniform following Miami’s one hundred fifteen-ninety nine win over Boston. It marked the primary of four meetings this season between the Heat and Celtics.

Rozier stated after Thursday’s recreation that “it was obligatory I acquired his jersey. I wouldn’t let no one else get it.”

“I’ve recognized Terry for a while — when he was at Louisville and we had a sit down and speak,” Wade recalled. “He informed me how a lot of an enormous fan he was. He had all my sneakers — Converse, every thing. He showed me he’s been an enormous fan for a very long time, and we’ve built a relationship from there, even when he was in school. Just me reaching out to him, seeing how he was doing.”
