At Least 1 Immigrant Being Held at Otay Mesa Has Been There 5 Years, Despite ICE Lacking Authorization to Incarcerate as Punishment: Report


At the very least one individual has spent greater than five years in Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody on the Otay Mesa Detention Middle, in line with knowledge obtained by means of a data request by the Transactional Data Access Clearinghouse of Syracuse College.

TRAC’s report provides a snapshot of who was held in immigration detention on June 30. At the moment, six individuals had been at the San Diego facility for more than three years.
